~a very Berry morning~

I love going to the farms in NY...they are always filled with fun times and good friends. Cameron's favorite thing to do is eat strawberries fresh off the vine...yummy warm strawberries. Caiden loves hanging out with his "girlfriend" Addison Jo Knight (and yes he calls her the full name)! And her little brother Drew is Cam's age...and I love hanging with their momma! It was a fun day at the patch and we can't wait until the Fall to go back for Apples, Punkin's and more :)

Last day of Pre-K

It was fun to be there for Caiden's last day of Pre-K. *sniff sniff* So hard for us to look at him and think he is already going into Kindergarten :( They didn't have a graduation (which made me a little mad) but they were "magically" turned into Kindergartner's at the end of the day. He was so happy and I was so proud! Our little baby is now a little boy and he talks like he is 20 sometimes. Ahhhh how time flies...

Another Soccer season has come and gone...

I loved playing soccer growing up and I am so glad Caiden enjoys it too! I was asked to coach this season and I enjoyed it (for the season), I think i will sit on the sidelines this coming fall! The kids were so sweet and we had a few "ringers" as the other teams referred to them as. At this age they don't really do teamwork well yet, but they did have fun with each other!

Caiden's 5th Pirate Party

Even though the party got pushed back a couple more months than we orginally thought it would (because our winter was relentless), Caiden was NOT going to forget that we told him he could have a Pirate Party for his 5th birthday! I tried my hardest to make it something he would remember. He invited his class from school...and every single person came! It really was a lot of fun. My first experience having kids dropped off at a party...and parents coming to pick them up hours later :)
Arrrggggg Matey's...everyone put on their pirate gear and we partied til dinner time. Happy 5th Birthday (again) Caiden! So glad you loved your party!!!

Caiden's First Field Trip!

This was Caiden's first field trip where he got to take a school bus! We really had so much fun with all his classmates and the other pre-k class! The Bear Mountain Zoo is a small zoo close to West Point with mostly rescued animals that have been injured or are older. It has a ton of recreation space and is a nice place to go with the family. Momma and Caiden had a really nice picnic and a lot of fun with his classmates.

Happy Easter

Our mom and tots group froze to death decorating cookies and egg hunting outdoors this Easter...but we were nice and cosy inside coloring eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide! Thanks to the grands (both sides) for sending such fun things for the boys and the Easter bunny left them some pretty nifty stuff too! And as Caiden stated, "thank you Jesus for rising up again to save us from our sins (because he hasn't been listening lately)!"

It's been fun people...

FL was great, but now it is time to go back and freeze our behinds off in NY. Can't you tell by the look on Caiden's face that he is so happy to be leaving :) Oh it is also 5:30 in the morning...until we visit again!!

Epcot

The parents definitely had more fun at Epcot, but I think we rode more rides than Disney and the kids did enjoy the day! Of course they thought all of the toy story topiaries were soooo cool (mom can't you do that at our house!) Fun times...

~Disney~

The boys were SO EXCITED to go to Disney World on Spring Break! Even though Caiden was pretty sick a few days before, he got better (thanks to Heart of FL ER) just in time to have a fun filled day of rides and food! It was his second time going to the park and Cam's first! They kept us on our toes the whole day, we were reminded of our childhood and how our folks must have felt!

Pop Pop's 60th

We got to celebrate (even though it was two weeks past his birthday) Pop Pop's big 6-0 with him when we were in FL on Aaron's Spring Break! It was nice to see all the family that was able to make it, meet some new people, and reconnect with friends we haven't seen in years! Thanks to all who came out for the party, it was a very special day for Ol' Pop Pop!

Orange Slice Cookies

I made some yummy orange slice cookies for a function that never happened...and ended up passing them out to all of the neighbors! They were SO DELICIOUS I though I would share the recipes with you. I altered the icing recipe for orange flavor, I am sure the possibilities are endless!
Sour Cream Sugar Cookie

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar

Directions

  1. Cream together 1 1/2 cups white sugar, butter or margarine, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and eggs. Add sour cream.
  2. Mix together 5 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, baking powder and baking soda. Gradually add to the egg-sugar mixture.
  3. Cover and chill dough for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  5. Roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Cut out cookies. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 10 - 12 minutes.
  6. To Make Frosting: In small bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat together the softened cream cheese and evaporated milk until smooth. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/8 teaspoon salt and confectioners' sugar. Beat until well blended. Color as desired and frost cooled cookies.

Sugar Cookie Glaze

Ingredients

  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons water (Substituted Orange Juice/Zest)
  • 10 drops food coloring

Directions

  1. Stir confectioners' sugar, corn syrup, and water together. Stir in food coloring if desired. This glaze must be stirred each time you use it. If it is not stirred before each use it will dry with a mottled look instead of a solid color.

Class Birthday

I was able to have snack for Caiden's birthday and the boy never fails to request something crazy for birthday snack! He has a great interest in pirates lately so of course I knew it would be something with that theme. I looked a looked and could not find anything store bought in a pirate theme...and he wanted to have cupcakes. So I made up some cute little, stay up til midnight, pirate cupcakes. They did turn out very cute and he loved them and that is all that matters. His class actually got to enjoy them TWO days later due to snow dates. Gotta love the north east snow! I ate one with them and they were still delicious! Whew...

Caiden turns 5!

So hard to believe that it was five years ago that we were given a blessing beyond anything we could have ever dreamed of! Caiden has brought so much joy to our lives now for 5 whole years. The saying the grow up fast is so true. I always tell him how much I would love for him to stay my little boy forever, but his dad and I have so much fun watching him grow in everything that he does.
Since Caiden wants an outdoor Pirate Party this year, we will wait until late Spring for a party (since mom slacked last year with the move).  We celebrated his actual birthday at Chuck E Cheeses with some good friends. He had a blast, but will talk about his upcoming pirate party until the actual date (so I better make it a good one)! We love you Caiden. You are an awesome little boy who everyone loves so much. 5 wonderful years...looking forward to sharing at least 50 more with you!

New Year's

With so many blessings answered this past year we are so greatful to have "ALL" of our family stateside and be in good health. The boys are being BOYS and having fun. You have to look at life like children do from time to time. Forgive & Forget, Live & Learn! May 2011 be the year that dreams come true, prayers get answered, people get saved, a little more happieness and a little less suffering. I do not really believe in resolutions because it might possibly be setting yourself up for failure. However I do believe in goals and I hope everyone accomplishes them in abundance this year. Much love to all and Happy New Year!

My Cardinal mistake

I made the mistake of going out back to take a picture of a beautiful cardinal against the white snow only to come in and find "creamer boy" and the disaster he created in the kitchen in single minute I was out the door. He was "drinking momma!" He IS my mischievous one...that is for sure!

2010 Christmas Blizzard

Ok now...I love the snow (or I used to anyway). The snow is becoming a little much. The "boys" have been outside for over an hour playing and their daddy has been shoveling for a solid two hours. We can walk a little and the car is out, but enough snow already!

Christmas Time

It was nice to have Aaron's family come up and visit for Christmas. The boys love having guests (and are always up a bit earlier)! Mam made the trip with Nonnie and Pappaw this time. We were able to enjoy the indoors mostly as the Winter had already started up pretty good by the time they had arrived. Snow, Snow, Snow...and some more snow...
Santa came and left a few gifts...Nonnie and Pappaw came and left a ton of gifts. The boys were in heaven and I shutter to think about finding a place to store all their new little goodies. Looks like the Goodwill and Church will be getting a visit from some of their older items. It is always fun to have family around during the holidays. And just like I dreamt when I was young...it was a White Christmas (my favorite movie of all time)!

Santa has a new ride..

Didn't you know that Santa has a new ride...the NY Police Heli?!? The boys were in amazement as they watched him fly in and get out of a helicopter. Made their daddy look even cooler in their eyes :) 2nd Aviation (who Aaron flies with here in NY) had their annual Christmas Party and this year the NY State Police were able to help Santa arrive in style. fun fun fun

Dinner with Friends

Things we have in common, we are in the same department, our kiddos are the same age...and they are wonderful friends! Love the Knight family and can't wait to have many more dinners with them and our crazy kiddos. They have one cooking...can't wait to meet whatever "it" may be :)

Our first Christmas Tree in 3 Years!

This year Christmas is special to us because we have our own home and decorated our OWN Christmas Tree! The boys love it, and I love how it makes the house feel. So glad to be in a home for longer than 6 months for the first time in a couple of years. Even though I am already freezing my buns off.

Thanksgiving Time

Gramma came to visit for the month of November, and Pop Pop came up for Thanksgiving week. We had so much fun spending time with them and Gramma even got her snow (as she prayed for daily)! Pictures from Thanksgiving are MIA, so either one of the little munchkins has been messing with a camera or they are hiding from us somewhere. I will update with more pictures hopefully soon. These are from Caiden's Thanksgiving day feast at Pre-K. Gram volunteered at his school a lot while she was here and he loved it!

CONGRATULATIONS MAJOR ASHLEY!!!

We are SO PROUD of Aaron. I was able to pin his much deserved Oak Leaf on during a beautiful ceremony at Trophy Point. His folks and mine were able to fly up for the occassion. Good times were had by all. Aaron has worked so hard since he has come to West Point. We are very proud of our MAJ Ashley!

~Halloween~

Caiden decided (once again) that he would like to be a police officer. He has now been a policeman twice and a fireman twice. I am sensing a pattern :) Cameron had the construction thing still in his head from his birthday...he loves construction anything! They were both so cute! Ahhhhh, now Caiden is already talking about next Halloween. I am sure he will change his mind 10 times before the actual date.
